AMSTERDAM (June 29 2011) – Dutch DJ/producer Vato Gonzalez is currently enjoying his international breakthrough. His single, 'Badman Riddim', is currently one of the top ten most played records by BBC Radio 1, making it one of the most hyped records in the UK and one of the biggest summer anthems of 2011.
'Badman Riddim' by Vato Gonzalez is one of this week's highest new entries in the official UK charts, entering at number 7 in the Top 40. This news was announced last Sunday, June 26, during the official chart show on BBC Radio 1, when Vato Gonzalez was interviewed by Scott Mills as one of the highest new entries. The single got its initial release in the UK, while the Dutch release is set for July 1 through Spinnin' Records. Release in the rest of the world will follow in the forthcoming month.
Badman Riddim's road to success
'Badman Riddim', a tune Vato Gonzalez produced three years earlier, started buzzing in the UK mid-2010. While gradually notching up over 3 million YouTube views without any promotion, the song found its way to some key UK tastemaker DJs. Soon after, 'Badman Riddim' started popping up in specialist shows on BBC Radio 1. Levels Recordings/Ministry of Sound then signed the record and turned the Godzilla inspired tune into a monster hit. 'Badman Riddim' quickly became one of the biggest instrumental club tracks of 2010, winning over the likes of Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Annie Nightingale, Pete Tong, MistaJam and Trevor Nelson at BBC Radio 1.
The record also proved to be one of the biggest dancefloor destroyers in clubs, being championed by a very wide selection of DJs including the likes of Crookers, Avicii, Chuckie, Tiësto, Skream, Grandmaster Flash, Roger Sanchez, DJ Fresh, Erick Morillo, Jaguar Skills and Benga. As the record kept gaining momentum, UK urban heavyweights Foreign Beggars jumped on board and added their trademark rhymes, which combined with Vato Gonzalez' killer hook and phat bassline, quickly became one of the biggest summer anthems of 2011. All this has resulted in Vato Gonzalez' first Top 10 UK chart hit.
The next two months will see Vato Gonzalez tour throughout Europe extensively, with gigs almost every day. Following the summer, he will continue to tour through the UK, Australia, Asia and North America, for which gigs are currently being scheduled.
